Custom courses
Our courses
The Institute of Modern Languages at San Jorge University offers Spanish as a foreign language and Spanish culture courses for closed groups of students at partner universities. These courses combine Spanish classes with content designed based on student needs, with a cultural experience in university life and the city of Zaragoza.
Objetives
The main objective of our courses to improve students’ linguistic, pragmatic, and socio-linguistic skills so that, on the one hand, they can practically and effectively communicate as they need during their time in Spain, and, on the other, so that they become competent speakers of the language, fostering personal growth and future professional development.
Methodology
We use a communicative approach, working with grammatical, lexical, pragmatic, and socio-cultural content by developing comprehension, expression, and interaction skills both in written and spoken language.
Duration
These are two-week summer intensive courses (taking place in May, June, or July) in weekly modules lasting 20 hours. The Spanish classes take place in the morning and there are also optional activities planned for the afternoon. The schedule and duration of the course, as well as the selection of non-academic activities, is flexible and can be adapted to the specific group's needs or requirements.
Materials
We offer two possibilities: individual planning of content, adapting it to a specific student profile or the use of a published Spanish as a foreign language manual (for courses lasting longer than two weeks). The manual can be selected by the group or the teaching staff at the Institute of Modern Languages.
Additional workshops
These courses can include, in addition to Spanish language and culture classes, thematic workshops on Spanish society, contemporary culture, or the Spanish economic system to complement the training of their students.
Some of the workshops we have conducted are as follows:
- Things You Didn't Know About Spain: Languages, History, and Tradition.
- Visions of Spain: Spanish Culture Through Cinema.
- Spanish Brands and Advertising.
- Doing Business in Spain: Cultural Differences.
- Intercultural Communication: The Process of Integration and Adaptation.
Place
San Jorge University has two main places where Spanish as a foreign language and Spanish culture courses take place. The first is on the Villanueva de Gállego University Campus and the second is in the Santa Cruz Building, located in the city center, just steps from Plaza del Pilar. Both locations are spacious, modern facilities ensuring a complete and pleasant learning experience.
